Festivities of Maslenitsa (Pancake Week) will fire Moscow up on February 20 – 26, 2012, with the support of the Moscow Government. Pancake markets, concerts, exhibitions, contests and public merry-making will rush through each district of Moscow. The best bands and performers of Moscow are invited to take part in the festivities.
The main scenes are Gorky Park and GUM-Katok on the Red Square. Gorky Park will see public events on February 24-26 and GUM-Katok on February 26. One of Generous Maslenitsa main events will be a live TV Moscow-London broadcast from the Red Square on February 26, when participants of the merry-making in Moscow will see their Maslenitsa counterparts on Trafalgar Square.
“Generous Maslenitsa” is traditionally seen as time to be with family and friends. The Moscow Maslenitsa will greet thousands of Muscovites and visitors of Moscow, including children from orphanages, handicapped people and children from large families.
Maslenitsa guests will enjoy nice company and holiday spirits, modern beats of folklore colors, traditional merry-making and, of course, the pancakes!
